Restoration Update

Work has commenced on the refurbishment of the Studio. The first stage is to strip away all of the interior in order to check that the building is structurally secure and to add all the relevant detail to strengthen the floor, roof and walls. To this end the first floor has been removed to expose the existing steel beams and the ceiling exposed in order to check the roof construction. The new entrance has been created in the Star Lane elevation and the footings are being dug out for the new extension on the Andover Road side.

It is always challenging refurbishing an old building but so far, fingers crossed, we have not discovered any additional major problems with the structure of the building. Progress is good and it has certainly been aided by the excellent weather we’re experiencing.
